The Megalodon is built around a sturdy aluminum tube which supports the scrubber, head and cylinders. It allows a wide range of cylinders to be used although the std cylinders are Luxfer aluminum 3 liter.

The heart of the Meg is the head. It is machined out of a solid block of extremely durable Copolymer Acetal and houses the computer, oxygen sensors, batteries in sealed battery boxes and oxygen injection solenoid. The breathing loop attaches to the top of the head with differently threaded connectors to prevent the user from accidentally reversing the loop. The Meg uses 3 galvanic oxygen sensors and displays all 3 sensor readings and an average of all 3 sensors. The Meg incorporates "Voting Logic" to maintain an accurate PO2 reading in case one of the sensors were to give a false reading and will "vote out" the bad sensor and will not use it's input to calculate the average PO2.

The 2 independent backlit APECS (Advanced Personal Environmental Controller System) handsets each show the loop PO2 and are controlled with magnetic reed switches. The primary controller is responsible for controlling the oxygen PO2 setpoint by driving the oxygen solenoid and the secondary controller is responsible for driving the HUD or Head Up Display. Both handsets have a dedicated power supply and operate totally independant of each other.

Neoprene Counterlungs

The Megalodon incorporates a Head Up Display which provides the diver with PO2 information from each of the 3 sensors via easy to interoperate LED flashes. It also alerts the diver to a High and a Low PO2 condition.

You have the choice of std rugged Cordura Nylon counterlungs or optional Neoprene counterlungs. The counterlungs attach to the backplate and harness and consist of a inhale and exhale counterlung. The inhale counterlung incorporates a Manual Oxygen Addition Valve and the exhale counterlung incorporates a Mixed Gas Bypass Addition Valve, the Automatic Diluent Valve and a Loop Over-Pressure Valve which also can be used to expell excessive condensation and water from the counterlung. The counterlungs have different threaded couplings to prevent the user from accidentally switching the counterlungs or the loop.

The Radial Scrubber has proved very popular and will soon be std equipment on the Meg. It provides improved "Work of Breathing" and increased scrubber duration.

You have a choice of different size and colour canisters and a range of scrubbers to suit your needs. The Meg uses a std single tank adapter to mount your backplate and wing and will accept almost any pony tank mounting system. ISC's own "Shadow Mounts"  and "Tiger Gear" being the most popular.

You can use your existing wing and backplate/harness on the Megalodon or any combination you choose. This allows you to customise your unit to suit your own personal preferences. It is recommended to use a wing with between 40 and 55 pounds of lift and depends on your personal weighting and protective suit.

Not all courses are the same and you owe it to yourself to complete your training with the most comprehensive and up to date knowledge and skills available. When you leave you will have earned your certification and will be confident that you can safely dive the Megalodon CCR.
