After a successful
trip to Truk Lagoon last October, we have decided to run another trip for the same time next year.
Truk Lagoon
was a major staging ground for the Japanese Navy during their dominance of the South Pacific during the early part of the
Second World War. As such they had amassed a huge Naval presence along with some 40,000 troops. The attack on Midway was staged
from Truk and it was made a priority target by the United States Navy. Operation Hailstorm was launched from US Carriers of
Task Force 58 on February 17-18, 1944 consisting of the Enterprise, Yorktown, Essex, Intrepid, and Bunker Hill and four light
carriers Belleau Wood, Cabot, Monterey, and Cowpens, embarking more than 500 planes. Supporting the carriers was a large fleet
of seven battleships, and numerous cruisers, destroyers, submarines, and other support ships.

Operation Hailstone lasted for three days, with an American bombardment of the Japanese wiping
out almost anything of value - 60 ships and 275 airplanes were sent to the bottom of the lagoon.
Join us as we
spend 10 days consisting of 18 dives to different wrecks in depths ranging from 25m to 65m. Many freighters, tankers, combined
troop carrier/freighters and 2 destroyers are amongst the wrecks we will dive. This is a unique location offering a rare opportunity
to see wrecks loaded with their cargoes of aircraft, engines, bombs, guns, torpedoes, depth charges, trucks, tanks and just
about everything else you can imagine would have been transported to support a war just as they lay when sunk back 65 years
ago.

The Trip will include twin share accommodation,
18 dives over 10 days, annual dive permit and transfers to and from the airport in Truk. I will have trimix and sorb available
and there is plenty of boosted O2 at the dive shop. Diving will be from a boat with each boat taking no more than 6 divers
and a guide so you can rest assured your dive will not be spoilt by overcrowding.
I have a package deal for Australian
divers ex Cairns and as there are so many divers coming from all over the world it is possible for you make your own way to
Truk, Continental Airlines operate a regular 737 service leaving from Guam on a daily basis.
