The trip departs Koh Samui on May 18th aboard the MV Trident, reknowned world wide for their expertise in finding
sunken WW2 wrecks. Some of their finds include the USS Lagarto and the Tottori Maru which we will be diving on this trip.
This is expedition wreck diving at it's finest, we will be searching the locations of 3 ships sunk during World
War 2. The first 2 are freighters sunk by the Dutch submarine O-19 and the 4th Maru sunk by the US submarine the USS
Hammerhead (Which was also responsible for sinking the Tottori Maru and others)
There will be 8 days of diving to depths in the 65 to 80 meter (215 to 265ft) range, so this expedition is open only
to divers with a current Trimix Certification and who are comfortable diving to these depths. There is He, boosted O2 and
sorb onboard along with a limited range of rebreather tanks for hire (For an extra charge).
A rough outline for the 8 days diving will be:
Day
1/ Solimoes, 2 dives.
2/ USS Lagarto 2 dives
3/USS Lagarto 2 dives
4/ Explore steel marks nearby ( we have 3 undived,)
hopefully Kinrei, Akita and Tairyo Marus – and a big wreck we’ve dived only once
5/ Above
6/ On the way home we have another un-dived mark then Akela, Tottori and
a bit out of the way Seacrest
7/ above
8/above
All these are big steel ships, Solimoes is a bit modern, but huge and reasonably shallow – a good warm
up dive to check everything is working properly for the upcoming deep dives.
Cost will be $4250.00US per diver
and will include He, O2 and sorb. 3 hearty meals per day will be supplied and there is always plenty of refreshments onboard
at an extra charge.
Places are limited to only 8 and they
are filling quickly so be quick and put your name down otherwise you will be left wishing you had done it sooner.
